R60mil is less than €4mil, so it's not an unreasonable cost estimate.
Can anyone confirm that there have only been three torpedo engagements since WW2? I know of only one, the sinking of the Argentinean ship General Belgrano during the Falklands war, but I'd be surprised if the various wars in the Middle East have not involved several uses of torpedoes.
I see indeed that is in fact what a torpedo costs. That is astonishingly expensive.
I wonder in a real world scenario if the cost would cross the mind of the Captain engaging a target.
To your question, are torpedo's still a relevant weapon?
Block 2 Harpoon anti-ship cruise missiles cost around $1.2mil, roughly half the price of a heavy torpedo.
A large warship could probably "absorb" a Harpoon hit or even two, in a non-critical area, and still be able to sail, but a single hit by a heavy torpedo is not survivable, the target <will> sink, because a modern torpedo does not simply punch a hole in the side of the hull, by detonating under the hull it breaks the ship's keel.
