My Kitty Hawk Mirage F1 and Kinetic Alpha Jet arrived the morning that I left home, I only got a quick glance in the boxes but the kits look great.
I might get the Pavla intakes too, I am wondering how much of a job it would be to cut the F1's nose off, trim the cut edge and re attach it so that the nose is straighter (in side profile) and not so "droopy".

Have you had a look at this Mistral, does the nose look so bad and would the above be a possible solution?

I am going to use the Pavla intakes for the Kitty Hawk F1C and cut the nose off the Italeri's F1C - the KH nose is awful and needs replacing. For an AZ....did a little test with one of Mistrals resin noses....that will work

Hmmmmm...ugh! :(

I might try some work on the nose first to see if I can improve on it or make a replacement, pity they did that on such a nice kit.

On the subject of Kitty Hawk kits......I did some dry fitting of both the F1 and their Jaguar Gr.1/GR.3 and noted that on both kits, the wing to fuselage join both have a little step which causes the wing to not sit flush with the fuselage. Going to do some more test fitting just to make sure my observation is correct - I hope it's not!!

and the Mig 25 comes in at over a grand... hmm.

This is not sounding good at all for K.H.
In this day and age, with computer assistance?
F.1 is not some top secret aircraft that is inaccessible to the public, so, what is the problem with K.H.???

Just have to wait for after market items to come out to rectify these problems.
May I suggest, sit on your kits and wait for the aftermarket, unless you will live with what your have in the kit.

KH are making the same mistake that the likes of a Trumpeter did when they first came on the market.....just pumped the kits out to market and to heck with great accuracy. The only "advantage" is that Trumpy and KH produce kits not done by the "big boys"

Not stopping me buying their kits though! :D

You don't have a choice, if that is the best kit out there on a particular topic.

Hi all,
I hope everyone using the Pavla intakes for the F1 is intending to use it on French F1's. The SAAF F1's had a double shock cone and the French ones only a single shock cone. Pavla intakes are for the French F1.
Regards
Joker

Great! 1/48 Gnat, I wonder how hard it it is to convert to the Finnish single seat version or the Indian Ajeet?

I Will have to look into that!!
