IBG 1/35 scale South African Reconnaissance Car Mk.II armed with Italian cannone da 32/47 mod. 1935 stolen from Italeri Sahariana kit.
Kit was pulled out of stash being Middle East type turret so some mods like adding Vickers ball mount to hull were required. I have MFF boxing in stash too but I decied to keep it for another build.
This vehicle is well documented one on IWM and belonged to 3rd SA Armoured Car Recce Battalion as part of 1st SA Infantry Division, photographed on 13th April 1942 somewhere on Gazala line.
Great book by W. Marshall on this vehicle was kept at hand.
Painted with custom mix of UDF No.8 olive green as base, disruptive pattern of AK Real Color BSC No.61 light stone and Desert pink ZI applied over chipping fluid. Weathering of ochre filters, wash and Africa dust effect and pigment.
Quick and simple base made of of plastic boards, filled with styrofoam and covered with mix of coffee grind and AK terrain paste in whick I pressed flat stones. Painted with Tamiya dusty mix. Some low brushery was added based on original photos. Figures are resin ones which received divisional flashes to their uniforms.
It was fairly quick and relaxing build.
