Hi guys,

I don't know who of you are familiar with the tv series "Vleuels" that was shown in the late 80's on television. One of you don't know perhaps where I can find the series? I already tried at the SABC but unfortunately without any luck. #-o

I remember the series very well and don't know where Boertjie got his info from. I checked on Kyknet's website and the TV series "Vleuels" is definately not showing on Kyknet currently. I watch kyknet regularly and cannot remember seeing it on Kyknet
The best option would be to correspond with Kyknet about the series as they do broadcast the old Afrikaans movies and TV series from time to time :smt023

I also checked last night the 8 week schedule and saw nothing. Boertjie maybe you can provide more light on it..... [-X

Hi guys
I might be mistaking the name of the series, but I most deffenently watched it myself. It might have ended by now, but I'm quite sure I watched it about a month or so ago. Now, maybe it wasn't this specific series called "Vleuels" but I'm quite sure I saw an Afrikaans program a few times on Kyknet not to long ago. In fact it was quite recently????

Boertjie, Vleuels was about 3 friends joining the Air Force - 'n vet outjie (Vaatjie) , 'n dark haired guy, and the blond guy tat also played in Egoli - a while back though.

Vaatjie went on to be a helicopter pilot if I remember correctly, the blond flew Imps and the dark haired guy, for some reason, got chopped. He flew crop dusters, and one of my favourite scenes, were when the two skinny guys met in a Harvard vs the Cropduster, and they had a dogfight.
If I remember correctly, they also flew in a Cessna without radio and got lost, saw an airfield and started landing there - only for it to be Hoedspruit / Pietersburg AFB, with a Mirage F1 on emergency finals... Missing them by mm's.

Then another scene: some general's roses got lost and had to be entered into some flower competition, they discovered it had been put on the wrong Flossie somewhere, they pulled strings and the bunch of roses was flown to it's correct destination in a Cheetah D...
And the famous sarmie made by the blond guy - it had EVERYTHING on it, Bovril, Peanut Butter, Cheese, Tomato, Cheese Spread, and then he topped it off with Pilchards, and poured condensed milk over it - the fat guy p..ed him off, so he left the kitchen with a "Ek's nie nou eers meer lus vir my toebroodjie nie".
If ever there was to be a Vlamgat sarmie, that would have been the one...

Haaaa-mmmm!!! OK Ryno, I then definitely got it wrong! The program I'm talking about was like a magazine-program all about aeroplanes and flying thingies....It was originally shown on SABC in the 80’s/90’s.
SORRRRRRYYY, so sorry.....

Now I'm curious as to the program they showed on KykNet. Did it include fighter jets as well?

Hennng....maybe yes, if I remembered correctly. There were some shots of air shows taking place and so on. I even think they had some shots of the XDM/ADM Rooivalk.....so it must have been from the early to middle 90's.

Jeesh, it's a bit long ago - before the days of Cheetah C's...
It could have been, I just remember the oke flying crop dusters at one stage - can't remember it he was kicked out or didn't make initial selection or whatever...
