Residents are to take note that between 17 and 19 April 2026 from 10:00 to 16:00, the SA Navy in conjunction with the Cannon Association of South African will conduct three 9-Inch Rifled Muzzle-Loading Gun firing from Middle North Battery and the East Dockyard with intervals.

As part of the Navy Festival celebrations there will also be a Gunnery Exercise and Pyrotechnics Night Firing at Lower North Battery on Saturday, 18 April 2026 from 16:00 to 22:30.

Pet owners are advised to take the necessary precautions.

SAS Umhloti - M1212 was moved to the main dock opposite SAS Protea and SAS Drakensburg. Looks like its going to be open to the public. Has not left in the harbour in at least 10 years.

The lynx was here this morning, started raining in its show. No big crowds and no traffic in or out of Simons Town

I missed the morning Lynx show and the afternoon show was cancelled due to poor weather enroute from Ysterplaat.

Rain was on and off the whole day, but better than the Friday. Some showers during the night shoot too, started as the first flare was shot! Luckily the heavy downpour was before the start and not too bad during the shoot.

Will post some photos in the next few days.
