Tenders awarded during September 2011

Armscor, the State arms procurement agency, issued a number of tenders and contracts relating to the SAAF during September 2011.
These included the following:
On 12 September, Pilatus Aircraft of Johannesburg and Martin Baker Aircraft of the UK were requested to tender for a Gripen, Hawk and Pilatus PC-7 cockpit anthropometric study. Armscor Defence Institute (Pty) Ltd, t/a Ergonomics Technologies, was issued a similar request on 16 September.
On the same date, Agusta Westland were requested to provide a quote for flight planning system and digital map generator training, modification and support.
Also on 12 September, a number of South African companies were requested to tender for the procurement of hypothermia rescue sling strops for helicopters.
A Request for Quotation was issued to Astra Aircraft Corporation (Pty) Ltd, t/a Atalanta,of Isando and Diehl BGT Defence GmbH & Co. KG of Germany on 26 September for a silent pure air gas filling station for the IRIS-T short range air-to-air missile system.
