Swartkop to become an operational military base again

The AFB Waterkloof runways, taxiways and aprons are to be closed in April for continuation of their rehabilitation started last year prior to AAD 2004. Also it is the intention to stabilise and rehabilitate "wet" services to prevent potential sinkholes in the future. Whilst also a dolomite declared area the Swartkop runway, taxiways and aprons are more stable. Thus, while work is in progress at Waterkloof, Swartkop will be used as was during AAD 2004. Swartkop is to return to an operational military facilty.
