In what has become an annual event, six German Air Force Tornados arrived at AFB Overberg in the southern Cape at the end of February. The route included three stops, including Accession Island. Air-to-air refuelling support was proved by KC-135s of 100 ARS, USAF, Mildenhall.

The exercise is called Good Hope 2006 (including Missile-Ex / Kormoran 1). Apart from the Tornados, ships of the German Navy are also involved. These vessels include the frigates 'Rheinland-Pfalz' (F209) and 'Hamburg' (F124) as well as the Combat Support Ship 'Berlin' (A1411). The SAN frigate 'Amatola' (F145) is also taking part.

2 Squadron, SAAF, has also deployed to AFB Overberg to partake in excercises with the Germans.
