As is befitting for a maritime helicopter, the new Super Lynx was displayed to the public for the first time at the Navy Day held at the Simon's Town Naval Base, Cape Town. The naval base was open to the public from 14 March to 16 March 2008.

The Super Lynx of 22 Squadron was flown in each morning, landing next to the German Frigate FGS Hamburg (F220). The helicopter was then flown back to AFB Ysterplaat late in the afternoon before returning the next morning.

This was the first time the helicopter was displayed to the general public since their ceremonial handover to the SAAF and SAN on 14 February 2008.
