Tellumat completes radar upgrade work
Date: 19 September 2000
More news from AAAD 2000: Tellumat Defence has revealed that the development work on a contract to upgrade radar installations for the SAAF was now complete and that the first system was undergoing trials.
"A key feature is that the radar, located on top of the escarpment looking over the lowveld hundreds of metres below, now has a look-down and terrain following capability. The upgrade includes improvements to the moving target indicator (MTI) feature which allows for better differentiation between moving returns and stationary ground clutter. Apart from operational enhancement, the new technology gives greater height accuracy, is more stable and is easier to maintain."
