Sixteen Warwick Mk Vs served with 17 Squadron in West Africa at the conclusion of World War II and they returned to the Union, but were scrapped shortly thereafter.
Britain offered South Africa a gift of 48 surplus Warwick Mk V aircraft in recognition of the role played by the SAAF during the the Second World War, but the aircraft were not accepted.
Armament:
Eight 0.303 in (7.7 mm) machine-guns in nose and dorsal twin-gun turrets and four-gun tail turret, plus a maximum weapon load of 15,250 lb (6 917 kg).
