1722 | SAAF Museum HF | OK | AFB Ysterplaat | Having returned from the first of three planned flights to commemorate the crash of Shackleton 1716 10 years previously, the aircraft taxied back to the apron to change passengers. Prior to the starboard engines being shut-down, groundcrew wheeled the stairs to the rear entrance door. The stairs where blown into the leading edge of the starboard vertical stabiliser, causing a small hole. The aircraft was shut down and all further flights cancelled. |
