Thales Digital Joint Reconnaissance Pod (DJRP)

The Thales Digital Joint Reconnaissance Pod (DJRP) is the latest version of the wet-film Vicon 18 system.
Purchased for use on the Gripen, the British-built DJRP provides a wide-area reconnaissance capability in a pod operating with electro-optical and infrared sensors. It provides day/night, low to medium level and real-time reconnaissance capabilities.
It has a Type 8042 electro-optical (EO) sensor in a rotating nose configuration and has solid-state recording technology throughout. The Type 8042 is a long-range oblique photography (LOROP) EO sensor with a 12.4-deg field of view using an 8-micrometer, 12,228-pixel CCD linear array.
The pod flew for the first time on the Gripen in the middle of 2010, with the first pod handed over in the third quarter of 2010.
